Chairperson

Lyn Boocock-Taylor Lyn Boocock-Taylor is the vice president for Development at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. AEHN has been serving the Philadelphia community since 1866 and provides comprehensive healthcare services through six major facilities and many outpatient locations. Prior to joining Albert Einstein in October, 2004, Lyn Boocock-Taylor served as president of the Arthritis Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania, a position she held for over six years. Under her leadership the foundation has grown from a $1.5 million organization to one with an annual budget of $3.5 million. Her other accomplishments include making Pennsylvania the first state to develop an Arthritis Action Plan without funding from the Center for Disease Control, as well as the first state to have an Arthritis and Osteoporosis Caucus, boasting 81 members from the Pennsylvania House and Senate. Ms. Boocock-Taylor has worked in the advancement field for 30 years and raised millions of dollars for projects in the Philadelphia area including university buildings, disease-specific research, scholarships, a trauma center, neuroscience labs and indigent care. Her civic activities including serving on the Drexel University Alumni Board of Governors, the board of the Delaware Valley Child Care Council, the development committee of St. Peter’s School, and the Promoting Healthy Living planning committee and professional advisory council of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. She also serves as a reviewer for the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Organizations. Ms. Boocock-Taylor received the 2004 and 1994 Professional Attainment Award and 1996 Specialty Award from Drexel University Richard C. Goodwin College of Professional Studies.

Michael C. Gerald, PhD Michael C. Gerald, Ph.D. is a Professor of Pharmacy in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut. Dean and Professor of Pharmacology (1993-2002), Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice (2002), School of Pharmacy, The University of Connecticut.  Allan Goldstein, MD, MPH, FACP Allan Goldstein, MD, MPH, FACP comes highly recommended with a clinical background in internal medicine and an interest in the health needs of the underserved. Dr. Goldstein is presently pursuing his interests in consumerism, patient advocacy, provider performance measurement and development of innovative primary care delivery systems. He obtained his medical training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He received his MPH from Columbia University. Dr. Goldstein is board certified in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has been the health officer for underserved neighborhoods in Brooklyn and had his own internal medicine practice in New Jersey. Dr. Goldstein was an early proponent of managed care, patient empowerment and shared decision making. Most recently, he was the Vice President and Regional Medical Director at AmeriHealth New Jersey where he oversaw the growth of the Plan from 25,000 to 200,000. Dr Goldstein built a reputation of providing high quality patient services while managing costs through disease and performance management.
Gail H. Javitt, JD, MPH Gail H. Javitt, JD, MPH is a Policy Analyst with the Genetics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC. In this role, she conducts legal research and analysis concerning the regulation of reproductive genetics technologies; develops, publishes, and maintains legal bibliographies of reproductive genetics and the law, and engages in the development of policy options and analysis concerning oversight of reproductive genetics technologies. Ms. Javitt previously served as a Visiting Fellow for the FDA and as an Associate for Covington & Burling in Washington, DC. She advised clients on compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to foods, drugs, medical devices, dietary supplements, biological products, and human tissues, and represented clients in meeting with FDA officials and congressional staff. Ms. Javitt also has served on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Law and John Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. She is the author of numerous articles on genetics, as well as a contributor to books and presentations. Ms. Javitt was the Greenwall Fellow in Bioethics and Health Policy at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown Universities from 2000 to 2002. Ms. Javitt received an MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, a JD from Harvard Law School, and a BA from Columbia University.
 Stephen F. Loebs, PhD Stephen F. Loebs, PhD is a Professor with the Division of Health Services Management and Policy, School of Public Health at The Ohio State University. He has served in numerous faculty and administrative appointments in hospital and health services, public health, health policy, and hospital administration. Dr. Loebs has been involved with 65 health care-related research projects, reports, and publications. He has been the recipient of various international and research fellowships and has been invited to speak at national and international conferences on topics including health care policy, health management education, managed care, state health care reform, long-term care, among others. Dr. Loebs has also been involved with more than 25 community, health service provider, and university organizations and served on 14 editorial boards and review panels. He has held academic association positions with the National Center for Healthcare Leadership, the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, and the Accreditation Commission on Education in Health Services Administration. Professionally, Dr. Loebs has also held positions with the American Hospital Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Ohio Hospital Association. In addition, he has contributed to community service as a governing board member, an advisor, and through state, university, and public health services. Dr. Loebs has also worked as a consultant for many universities, medical groups, and hospitals. He is a Certified Health Executive by the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the Ohio Hospital Association and the Central Ohio Administrators Association. Dr. Loebs received a PhD in medical care organization, an MA in political science, and an MHA in hospital administration, all from The University of Michigan, and an AB from Bowdoin College.
  Anita Plotinsky, Ph. D. with more than 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector has enabled thousands of nonprofit representatives to strengthen their organizations in the areas of nonprofit management, fund raising, grant proposal research and writing and board development. As director of the Foundation Center–Washington, DC from 2000 to 2008, she was responsible for information and development research services, educational programs, community outreach and fund raising, and personally provided assistance and instruction to more than 2,500 people each year.
From 1994 to 2000, she served as executive director of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) and prior to that was affiliated with the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, where she developed academic programs and taught courses in nonprofit management and philanthropic studies. She is a graduate of Indiana University and received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the City University of New York.
Anita works with a small number of highly experienced associates in Washington, DC and New York. Each one specializes in a selected area such as major-gifts fund raising or communications.


Robert E. Smith, Jr., MD Robert E. Smith, Jr., MD is the President of South Carolina Oncology Associates PA, a 20-physician multi-specialty practice including medical, radiation, and gynecologic oncology located in Columbia, South Carolina. He also serves as the Director of the Cancer Treatment and Research Institute at Baptist Medical Center and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, both in Columbia. Dr. Smith is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He is an associate of the American College of Physicians and a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Smith is President of the South Carolina Oncology Society and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology where he serves on the Clinical Practice Committee, the American Society of Hematology, the South Carolina Medical Association, and the Columbia Medical Society. He is active in clinical research and an invited lecturer in oncology. Dr. Smith has been published in the American Society of Clinical Oncology Proceedings, Clinical Research, Cancer, JCO, JAMA, British Journal of Cancer, and European Journal of Cancer. He received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and a BA from Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. Dr. Smith completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology at Dartmouth Hospitals in Hanover, New Hampshire.


 

President

Julia E Reynes started with the Foundation in January of 2008. Most recently Ms. Reynes was a vice president at the American Red Cross in the international healthcare and disaster response areas. She led the American Red Cross response to the December 2004 tsunami and was awarded a citation for superior service. She also served as chief of staff to the Red Cross Chief Operating Officer and led strategic planning in the information technology area. Ms. Reynes has experience in non-profit leadership, communications, marketing and fundraising. Ms. Reynes has a background in healthcare through over 13 years of consulting for the military health services, Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services and a home health agency on management and information technology. Ms. Reynes is a resident of Alexandria, Virginia and holds an MS from Boston University in Computer Information Systems and a BS from the University of Maryland in Business Management.
